I am currently reading I am, I am, I am by Maggie O’Ferrell whose most recent novel, This Must be the Place, I really enjoyed. I am is a memoir about near death experiences.  Several of them are from her young adult years and her telling reminds me how poorly we put things in context in our 20s and how long it takes to learn from our mistakes.  Especially chilling is a story of a brush with a murder and her narrow escape only to find out that she is not able to convince the appropriate parties of the danger until someone else has died.

I finished Perfect Little World.  It was forgettable.  The author’s process was thinly veiled which made the story very clunky.  I also saw A Wrinkle in Time and was disappointed.  DuVernay used the story to spot light her actors instead of using the actors to tell the story.  John said it was a great vehicle for Oprah’s sage-like smile.

I am knitting socks from this book with this yarn. Also binge watching a BBC show about moving to the country.  I want a lovely British country home close to the sea.

Roger turned 65 on Saturday and we had quite a bash. Karaoke and keg with so many great friends.  Exhausting but well worth it.

Still struggling with diet and anti-diet and restricted eating and all that shit.  It is hard to let it go. I also feel a pull to get more active but the weather is still holding me back. It is again in the 30’s this week with snow forecast for Wednesday.  Seriously considering moving back to the deep south along the coast except I would miss my friends and my patients. Also, NPs don’t get much respect down there. We have slightly more here.

Here is my self help article of the week. Floss, sweat, write, repeat. Not hard but so hard.

Quote of the day:  ” I know a cure for everything: salt water…in one way or the other. Sweat, or tears, or the salt sea.” Karen Blixen quoted by Maggie O’Ferrell.

Until next time.

xoxo Jen
